Rear hub spacing explained:
The distance between the dropouts is also known as the Over Locknut Dimension (O.L.D.).
Knowing the correct hub spacing is important for a few reasons:
- Compatibility: It ensures that the wheels are compatible with the frame
- Replacement: It makes it easier to replace wheels and other parts in the future
Some common hub sizes include:
- 100 mm: Modern front hubs (QR or TA)
- 110 mm: Thru axle front hubs (MTB Boost)
- 120 mm: Modern track hubs
- 126 mm: Older 5 and 6 speed road bikes
- 130 mm: Non-disc road bikes
- 135 mm: QR MTB, most QR disc road bikes
- 141 mm: QR Boost (Giant Stance)
- 142mm - Road through axle (or old MTB through axle)
- 148mm - Boost MTB
- 157mm - Super Boost MTB (DH)
